Surrey CC Data Strategy Animations

Ingenious Design was delighted to team up once again with Surrey County Council on the final two of four animations we have produced for them supporting their three-year Data Programme, which aims to change the way people think and behave around data. The last two videos went live in December 2024 covering Data Sharing and Using Data to Support Decision Making.

The first animation, released back in 2023, acted as an introduction to the programme and Ingenious produced an identity for it following existing corporate branding which we developed and extended for ongoing use across future assets. We also created Cookie, a gender-neutral character who features in all four animations to help communicate messages in a simple and informative way. 
 
Overall design needed to be inclusive, welcoming and not too technical or abstract, in order to clearly convey to a wide audience how data can be acquired, managed and used to provide deeper insights about the county, its communities and residents and to help shape policy. 
 
Like both their predecessors, the two latest animations in the series are clear, accessible and informative, employing bright, bold graphics to illustrate and compliment the script, together with upbeat voiceover and soundtrack. They will be used internally on Surrey County Council’s staff site Data Hub, as well as being shown during staff workshops and data courses.
