Caroline Hensman - Social Media & Office Manager

Once in a while, we take a sneak peek behind the studio door to shine a spotlight on individual members of the small but perfectly formed Ingenious team. We’ve devised a fun Q&A and here it’s our social media and office manager, Caroline’s turn to share a few secrets!
1. What did you do before joining Ingenious?
Prior to joining Ingenious, my career was in book publishing as a picture researcher. This involved sourcing images for a wide range of illustrated books, clearing copyright permissions and negotiating fees for their use. I worked for some major publishers including Macmillan, Octopus, Reader’s Digest and Wiley. I also had administrative roles for several years at a local primary school and 6th form college.
I’ve always been visually inclined, well organised and have a keen eye for detail – useful qualities for the manager of a busy creative design studio!
2. What aspects of your work do you enjoy most?
I really enjoy the variety of things I do to help keep the Ingenious office running smoothly. Being a small company, I get involved in everything from planning and drafting social media posts, copywriting, proof reading and bookkeeping to watering the plants and most importantly, ensuring we don’t run out of tea and coffee! I also love our rural office location in the heart of the beautiful East Sussex countryside and that I can cycle to work!
3. Describe your perfect day
Walking on the South Downs or a bike ride to the beach - and if it’s warm and sunny a swim in the sea.
4. What's your most treasured possession?
Photographs of family and friends. I love taking photos and like everyone, have far too many. It’s always a pleasure to take some time to look through them and remind myself of everything we’ve done over the years!
5. Describe yourself in three words
Calm, conscientious, kind.
6. What’s your guiltiest pleasure?
Listening to Coldplay (so uncool!)
