Did you know? Nike swoosh
The iconic Nike swoosh, a seemingly simple design, has become one of the world’s most successful logos.
It was designed by Carolyn Davidson in 1971 while she was a student at Portland State University. She was paid $35. Carolyn presented several options and the checkmark was the winner, although Nike’s co-founder, Phil Knight, reportedly commented “Well, I don’t love it, but it will grow on me.”
Carolyn’s contribution to Nike did not go unrecognised. She was later given 500 shares in the company which, needless to say, have considerably appreciated in value over the years!
