Ingenious team Kirsty

Every so often, we open the studio door to find out a bit more about individual members of our lovely and super-talented Ingenious team. We’ve devised a fun Q&A and this time round it’s the turn of our senior designer, Kirsty, to share a few of her secrets!

What is your earliest design memory?

My father is a professional photographer and I always loved looking at his work which gave me a strong visual awareness as I grew up. I was constantly drawing from a young age and did Art GCSE but always leant towards graphics. In fact, all my schoolwork looked like design pieces - for every subject! I remember when we did an art project on logo design and Dad drove me all round Eastbourne looking at company logos for inspiration! I later went on to do a BTEC and degree in graphic design at Bath Spa University.

What aspects of your work do you most enjoy?

I really love getting stuck into big reports, immersing myself in the look and feel of a client and what they’re all about. We have a very wide variety of clients at Ingenious Design and it’s fascinating to learn in depth about these different organisations and how they work. Designing reports for them gives me the opportunity to do so.

What’s your favourite film?

I enjoy a cheesy rom com like Bridget Jones and Love Actually, or a period drama such as Bridgerton. I love watching a film cosying on the sofa with my daughters or a girlfriend - rather than my other half, who likes the exact opposite – a full-on action thriller!

What makes you happy?

Being with my family makes me happy. I love spending time with my daughters as they grow older – and my cat! I’m always super busy so a rare day with no plans is a lovely opportunity to seize the moment and go for a coffee with them.

Fun fact about you

My family is in its fourth generation of RNLI lifeboat crew. My husband's grandfather, father, my husband and myself have all volunteered on the lifeboats and now my oldest daughter is currently volunteering too - so it’s a real family affair!

My husband now has a full-time paid job with the RNLI but I actually met him when we were both volunteering. On our wedding day, we were taken for an honorary ride on the lifeboat from Sovereign Harbour to the pier in Eastbourne, where we got off for photos on the beach!
